The translation will surely not develop communication skills as the author points out since this exercise is more focused on linguistic and extra linguistic aspects, but the translation is really important since this is where we must apply knowledge practically; from my point of view it would not be possible to dominate a foreign language, without take over a translation technique, the mastery of linguistic resources is decisive and is a necessary instrument in the learning of a second language. Nowadays, nobody is a secret that translation is an important part of society since it allows access to a great variety of information through different means of communication around the world.

I think that communication skills are achieved with other practical techniques, speaking by listening interacting in different scenarios that allow us to address topics of interest.

The translation should be integrated into any teaching strategy since from my point of view a good professional should integrate all possible skills to teaching and learning the language

As a conclusion, compared to what the author explained and according to my experience in the topic Translation is a complement to communication in the learning of English it helps us in the proper interpretation of the different expressions, there are practical exercises that need a good translation for its development, on the other hand it is an instrument that facilitates the execution of teaching.
